Average fuel pump prices have risen 3 pence per liter since the start of the month, reaching 147 pence – despite a recent reduction in supplier wholesale costs.

Not passing on the savings costs drivers an additional £ 3.50 every time they refuel a typical 55-liter petrol family car.

Diesel costs an average of 151 pence per liter, which the RAC says is expected to drop by 4 pence.

Simon Williams, RAC, said: “Over the past few days, the wholesale price of gasoline has fallen sharply, which means the largest retailers are in a great position to lower prices and ease the burden on drivers. . “

He urged the Big Four supermarkets, which sell 45% of all fuel, to “do the right thing”.

He said they are constantly buying new supplies so they are able to pass on the savings immediately.

Meanwhile, Andrew Spence, 54, who led the protests against fuel in 2000, is back in action.

The haulier turned farmer today organized a descent on the A1 to Newcastle.
